Prairie du Sac-P.O. in Sauk County on the Wisconsin river six miles above Arena. Settlements were commenced here in 1839 and now there are inhabitants enough to require a separate county to be set off for the accomodation.

Prairie or Mashkudens river, a branch of the Mississippi river four miles above Trout river thirty yards wide at its mouth, navigable for canoes about ninety miles. It has a rapide, three miles above its junction with the Mississippi.

Prairieville (formerly Prairie Village) a village in Milwaukee county on the Pishtaka river sixteen miles west from Milwaukee, on the site of an old Indian Village. It is at the head of a beautiful prairie extending along the river, which here has a descent of ten feet in half a mile affording a valuable water power upon which there is erected an extensive flouring mill.
