DePere, a town in Brown county [embraced within the following boundaries] defined by law as follows: "So much of fractional townships twenty two and twenty three in range twenty as lies on the east side of the Neenah river; fractional township twenty two in range twenty one; So much of fractional township twenty three in range twenty one, as lies south of the section line extended west between sections twelve and thirteen, and so much of the private claims on the east side of the Neenah as lies south of the south line of number eleven of private claims; fractional township twenty two in range twenty, and so much of fractional township twenty three in the same range, and all the private claims [?] of S. line of JB Labard's claim. Exclude [wanted?] on the west side of the Neenah, not included in the town of Howard." As its name implies it includes the rapids and the village of the same name. The Neenah; and Devil rivers run through the town from south to north. Pop. 1842-320
