Beloit, a flourishing P.O. Office town situated near the south line of the Territory on the east side of Rock river, and at the mouth of Turtle Creek, which affords a fine water power within the limits of the town. There is here a large flouring mill, saw mille, two stores and numerous mechanics shops. A seminary was incorporated by the legislature in 1837 and a manufacturing company in 1839; the society is represented to be excellent for intelligence and morality. A steamboat has ascended Rock River to this place.

Beloit, a town in Rock County embracing all of town one west of Clinton or middle line of range 13 to the county line and also the south east quarter of town two in range thirteen. It is watered by Rock River Sugar River and Turtle Creek, besides several smaller streams, not yet honored with names. Much of this town is [illegible/obscured] the finest quality.
