My dear Miss Lapham:

Your guess concerning the authorship of the little article descriptive of Dr. Lapham's work and manuscripts is correct. It was written by myself.

The papers are on display in the Museum and take up one double and one single case. Many citizens and others who knew your father, and others of the present generations who are interested in his work have already called to see them. I am very glad indeed to have these additional papers, which you have so very kindly just sent to place with the others. Next week our friends will begin to arrive For them these manuscripts will possess even greater interest than to those now hovering over them.

I sent to you to-day the program for the meeting

which will be a most eventful and I hope successful one. We will erect two metal tablet markers, one upon the great bird upon the State Hospital lawn and the other upon a fine bear effigy on the public oval on W. Wash. St., on Lake Wingra. Rev. Gilmore will deliver the address at the one and Prof H. B. Lathrop at the other.

Mrs. Buell wishes to have yourself and Miss Mary as her guests and we all sincerely hope that you can come. You will not lack for hospitable friends here.

Will you do me the kindness to insert a little notice of the meeting in your local paper, inviting all interested persons to come.

Mrs. Brown, and [Ody?] are well and unite with [me?] in sending best regards to you.

Yours very truly,

Charles E. Brown

My dear Miss Lapham: --

I am sending you herewith a clipping from the Boston Evening Transcript enumerating the centenaries of 1911. Inasmuch as your father, very properly, is included in the list and his ^name indeed is one of the most notable of them all, I thought you might be interested to have it.

I trust this note will find you well and likewise your good sister. With very kind regards,

Sincerely yours,

Dear Miss Lapham:

Thank you for your kind letter. I have had so much work ahead of me at the Mueseum this year that I have given but few talks outside of its walls. If you will kindly refer Miss Riley to me I will be pleased to discuss with her the matter of speaking at the Lapham School.

Commissions

The Wisconsin Archeological Society is to appoint a committee consider the most appropriate manner of celebrating your father's birthday anniversary, as recently proposed by myself. If possible, I hope also to make a commemorative special exhibit at the State Historical Museum during that month. This will be well advertised and open to both our local school children and students of the University. It has also occurred to me that the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences might be induced to adopt a commemorative resolution at its annual meeting, which occurs in February.

Mr. Alfred C. Burrill, lecturer at the Public Museum, Milwaukee, might be asked to speak of Dr. Lapham's labors to Milwaukee public school children on about that date. If you
