Petition for allowing the residents of Fond du Lac to vote on a location for the high school

Petition of L.M. Tompkins & others, citizens of the city & county of Fond du Lac in realtion to change of site for High School in said city.

To the honorable the Legislators of Wisconsin

The under signed citizens & taxpayers of the city of Fond du Lac would respectfully show to your honourable body that a few years since a piece of land was purchased by the school board to be used as the site for high school building but no building has yet been erected.

That the school board then in office made choice of a place now thought by a great majority of the voters & tax payers in the school district to be unsuitable and inconvenient to a great majority of the inhabitants of the district that but little was said about the site before purchasing and but few had a voice in the matter.

That there are other locations preferable much more convenient which can be had without any extry expence to the district.

We therefore ask that an act be passed submitting the question of a change of the site to a vote of the legal voters of the school district at next charter election and also at the same time said votes to designate a place for site.
