imposed & the payment thereof was made under compulsion.

Your memorialists respectfully insists that such tax was illegal & was unlawfully imposed and collected & that the said sums of $2087.67 now remains in the state treasury the lawful property of the said Bank and its stockholders & [ought?] to be refunded. They therefore pray the passage of an act appropriating to your memorialist the sum of $2,087.67 and instruct therein from the 27th day of December 1865 and authorizing & [indicating?] the payment thereof by the State manner.
