To the Honorable the Legislature of the State of Wisconsin

The undersigned Citizens of the Town of Lima Rock County Wisconsin, Electors of said Town, do hereby Respectfully Remonstrate, against any action on the part of your Honorable body tending to legalize the tax voted by the "Electors of Said Town at a Special Town Meeting Called there & convened on the 18th day of December 1863 for the purpose of paying to drafted men $150 who have commented heretofore, as calculated to work injustice to the tax payers of Said Town - And your petitioners would ever pray &c.
