54 The Hippo we did not see but which had his picture taken near by, Two young men returned from the picnic island, (Kandahar Island) in a canoe and had the good fortune to see a nice big crocodile basking full length on a rock. One was just going to snap him when he slid off in the water He had his mouth wide open and was probably snoring

Nine hippos have been shot within a few miles of the Falls recently a leopard was shot a few nights ago by the bridge keeper. A gentleman saw two bucks this morning and others say they saw a group of babboons yesterday.
