Mrs. Clara B. Colby, Esteemed Friend,

I have been too busy to call, but write to say that we will leave for Boston Tuesday A.M. 10.o'clock on the B. & O. Bound Brook route. Tickets by boat- round trip $12.50 By through train. round trip $15. I prefer the boat, as we will get a good night's sleep without going to the Hotel. get our breakfast at Depot & then go to business meeting.

I sent this the hands of my College Class mate Miss Amelia Petit of Ithaca N.Y. whom you met in my office B. Ph.& M. Ph. of Syracuse University.

Miss Petit desires to spend the Winter in Washington - is a writer and teacher, and has considerable experience in newspaper work. She would like a position on the "Woman's Tribune" at moderate salary. if your help is not already

My Dear Mrs. Colby, I send my regrets & apologies for not having been at your reception. I fully intended to be there, & dressed myself in my best clothes - white kids &c to go Went to Mary S. Lockwood's first to hear Grace Greenwood & then excused myself. as time was passing to pay my respects to you. Did not know that you had moved - my daughter said you lived on 10th St. and I supposed I could walk straight to it, but I could not. I went into a Drug store, and they told me 826 - 12th. I went back. You were not there. Went back to Mrs. Lockwood's door and asked there. Was told 1035-10th St. There was no such No. Looked for 1025- no such No. Called at 1125 & 35 could not find you. Called at 935 & 25- not there. Tired out and disgusted I went home after about 1 1/2 hours of fruitless effort.

Dear Mrs. Colby,

It is now 11 o'clock Wedenesday night, and although I have daily expected money, I have not received a dollar yet, and the situation is practically unchanged. Even the man who was to secure the berths (Dubois) has left town without giving any information. I saw Gen Allison to-day and he introduced the Bill in the Senate all right, and so did McCreary in the House, but the situation is such that it is impossible to get anything through. Even the Defficiency Bill carrying the Cherokee, & other Indian cases, is still in conference. I think the Etrusia sails very early Saturday morning, so there is scarcely a ray of hope for anything to happen between now and
