I would respectfully State for your information that my Command have been without Corn Meal Since yesterday morning Nothing having been issued them Save Salt & Beef And it is Absolutely Necessary the men Should be supplied with Bread of Some Kind I do not intend to Blame any of the officers in this Sub Dist but merely give you this information as It is my duty to do so.

Your kind favor of the 12 Inst has been received and I will State in regard to Lieut Sturns's information about forage there must be Some mistake as we have not been regularly Supplied with forage and were it not for forage received from you a part of the time I would have been Entirely out & as It is we only receive half forage of Hay Maj Stafford is now under arrest So Cannot act on his official Capacity I Am much obliged to you for Your attention to Clothing as my men are almost naked & will Call your attention to Shoes for them as the last Shoes [[pined?]] were of a very inferior quality acknowledging receipt of Msr Stand & with [[beg?]] regards for Yourself I remain yours

I would most respectfully request to be relieved from the [[E?]] Brand of [[Appea?]] at this place as my duties in the Battalion are such as to require constantly my attention by being a member of the Brand. it at least occupies three or four hours daily which should be applied to my Command. Hoping this will meet Your early consideration.
