I have the honor to state for your information that in accordance with instructions received from Sub District Head Quarters that on Saturday the 4th inst I proceeded with one Section of my Light Battery to Middligger's Farm for the purpose of protecting the wreck of the "Will o' the Wisp" from the enemies Gun Boats I arrived there at 3 o'clock P.M. Same day and encamped without interuption until 9 o'clock A.M. Sunday the 5th where the enemy made their appearance with one Gun Boat which proceeded within about two miles of the wreck when she came too and opened her Batteries upon us, firing one hundred and five rounds, Shott, and shell, withdrawing about 10 o'clock without doing any damage, at 2. o'clock P.M. two Gun Boats hove in sight making directly for the wreck, when within about 2 miles of her they came too one taking position directly in front the other a little to the right when they boath opened fire upon us firing 92 rounds without damage as keept my men and horses well covered behind the sand hills, they retired about 4½ oclock P.M. and remained absent until 12M. Monday the 6th when they again made their appearance taking up their former positions, and fired Forty seven rounds without farther damage than striking the wreck several times one shell exploding between decks. everything

In compliance with circular No 10. dated Hd Qrs Dis Galveston February 20, 1865. I have the honor to inform you that I am deficient the following articles Viz 1st. (12) Twelve Colts Pistols 2nd Cartridge Boxes &c not required 3rd Horse equipments — Complete expect Halters (80) Eighty deficient, 4th overcoats, coats, Trowsers, shirts, Boots, (Cavalry) stockings, for (86) Eighty six men deficient. 6th No Comd officers absent.
