Maj S. T. Fontaine

Sir

I wish you would have Pvts Smith, Kuhen, & McDaniel of my Battery ordered back to the Company as soon as possible. they have been absent in year herding Artillery horses for all the Lt Batteries and I do not think is proper for me to furnish herders for the whol Battalion. I will have seventeen men in Confinement for mutinous conduct who will not be for duty (I presume) at least six month which renders my Battery allmost inefficient. Not having enough men to perform Guard duty

Sir

I would respectfully request that the enclosed application be complied with. Privt James Best of my Lt Battery is a very good soldier but is dissatisfied where he now is and I think it would be to the benefit of the service to make the transfer. Your approval is, I presume sufficient as boath men belong to the same Battalion

Lieut S. A. Hobson Adjt 7th Battalion Light Artillery

Sir

I would respectfully state that the requisition for one wagon and two mules for my Light Battery has been returned, with the remark by Capt Grisham "that there are no mules or wagon to be had" this appears very strange and I am satisfied that it is only an excuse to delay filling my requisition. I have only one wagon and could not possibly move without other means of transportation, therefore I wish you would be kind enough to have the wagon and mules furnished as soon as possible
