You would confer a great favor by sending Bug Shott of my Lt Battery to his Company immediately as I have no Bug for duty in the company. Also Corporal Enderle & Pvt Fish who are in or about San Antonio without leave. I have two more men (Sergt Billhartz & Pvt Barke) near Castroville which I would like very much to have returned, if you have any means of arresting them I wish you would do so as they have been absent for some time without leave

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Eight (8) horses, two of which are blind and all unserviceable, but as I am short of horses I will keep them until others can be furnished they are entirely unfit for artillery Service but will do to mount the non-com officers on. It is absolutely necessary that good artillery be supplied as I could not move the Battery with the horses I now have.

I have the honor to inform that after four horses work with the Carpenters of my Company I succeeded in Coping Capt Wellhansen's Lt Battery over the Rail Road Bridge. I would respectfully beg leave to call the attention of the Brig Genl. Comd'g to the fact that the Bridge is in a very bad condition and entirely unsafe for artillery or cavalry, and that further repairs are absolutely necessary

In reply to your Communication of the 6 inst relative to the two Bateries stationed at this place, I have the honor to inform you that they are boath in very good condition and only require the articles specified in the enclosed requisition to make them complete, except men, each requiring about twenty five men, mine in particular at present as I have sixteen men in confinement. Hereafter I wil communicate everything of interest relating to each Battery as directed in your communication, In regard to the wants & c of the Batteries I am perfectly satisfied the Major Comd'g will do all in his power to have them supplied

Leiut Hopkins of my Lt. Battery leaves here today with 8 men to report to you for the purpose of obtaining Horses for the Lt Artillery & I hope you may Succeed in obtaining a Sufficiency of Servicable ones. As the last (8) Eight I received are totally unfit for Service, will be obliged to turn them in with Several more belonging to the Battery, which are entirely unserviceable to render my Battery Serviceable it will require at least (40) forty. Captain Wellhansens Battery will require about (10) Ten making a Total of (50) fifty for the Two Batteries. I will also respectfully call your attention to the Several little Articles which I have made Requisition for & request you will be kind enough to furnish them. So Soon as they can be obtained as I require them immediately
