Head Quarters Light Artillery Galveston Texas April 15, 1865 Capt Wm Tyler Asst Adjt Genl
Sir
I have the honor to inform the Col. Comd'g that for the last two days no corn has been furnished the Light Batteries under my Command. The horses are in very bad condition and unless forage is furnished it will be absolutely necessary to send them some 8 or 10 miles out on the Island to keep them from starving as there is no grass near Town. Hoping the above may meet your early attention

Head Quarters Light Artillery Galveston Texas May 5th 1865 Capt Wm Tyler Asst Adjt Genl
Capt
I would most respectfully call the attention of the Col. Comd'g to the fact that the two Batteries under my Command have not more than 60 men each present, that out of those men there are always from 10 to 15 who are sick, in confinement, or otherwise employed, leaving the number of effective men about 45.
In case of an emergency each Battery would require at least 100 men. to render it effective. and would respectfully request, that if consistant with the good of the service that steps be taken to fill them up to that number
