House Cleaning

If windows must be washed -
and dusting done -
And woodwork wiped - and
cupboards, one by one,
Be cleaned and cleansed -
and carpets beaten be
And boards be scrubbed
till there's no dirt to see
Why must these things,
sweetheart - be done in Spring?
When crocuses are up and
bluebirds sing?

Isn't that cute - dear diary -
makes me think of
housecleaning at home -
Wish I were there -
now -
