evening I went to the ball at Strathroye. Home by 3 o'clock
Friday. Killing & skinning 3 sheep. Saturday. Christmas Day.
Went early to Major Stille's, and went out shooting. Had dinner,
roast beef, turkey and plum-pudding at 4 o'clock, thought of
you all many times, in the course of the day, drank your health
in a glass of whiskey-punch, and wished a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year. Kept it up to a late hour. You should
see the Xmas logs they burn out here, they roll them in on
rollers, and they last for a week, as a back log. We had lots
of songs, but no piano. Sunday. A little snow. Monday. Wood
hauling, and preparing for for a threshing Bee. Tues-day. Threshing.
20 hands comprised our Bee, it is dusty, dirty work. We paid
for 3 hands, all the rest was given, bee-fashion. We pay so much
per bushel by Machine. Wednes-day, ditto, Thurs-dayditto. We
have 364 bushels of spring wheat, & 60 bushels of oats. Our peas, and
rest of oats, we have left for another time. Thursday night. There
will be a grand party at Strathroye to-morrow evening, the
last night of the year. Charlie Stille, and self go. Friday, night
