Woodholm, London June 27th /83. It is three weeks today since I arrived, three very pleasant weeks. The day after I arrived I was too tired to go into town, went in next day, went met a friend & had a delightful little chat. On Sunday night went into Church, dislike the cold dull service exceedingly, went into town indefinitely for a week amused myself when home with croquet, tennis and read "ad libitum". Thursday June 21st our Garden Party came off enjoyed it very much but had a bad headache got cross (& so did some one else) met some very pleasant people also some very queer ones, especially

in the clerical line, enjoyed the party tho' very much it was such a pretty sight.

Woodholms is lovely & the "Woods" delightful, not by any means "[wol?]. I

On Saturday June 23rd went to a tennis [opening?] was pleasant enough, if somebody had been more available I would have enjoyed it more - wish I wasn't so stiff & quiet just when I want to be the other thing; was very much delighted to see Ted.

Sunday June 24th Didn't go to Church all day two gentlemen came out to call went into the woods for a walk enjoyed it rather, the latter part any way, made up a little misunderstanding at

last, am very glad I hate such things. Monday June 25th came into town drove home in the rain. Will the rain ever stop.

Tuesday June 26th Went to a Wedding in the morning went with quite a number of people: In the afternoon went to a tennis party, was rather late but found it very enjoyable, met some pleasant people,had great fun when leaving, was asked to the Literary Meeting, but couldn't go.

Wednesday June 27th Am writing this in the morning an old lady friend is expected out to dinner today. The weather is delightful, am writing on the verandah. Bess is brushing her silk. B. & I had a heavy thunder storm between us yesterday, all quite serene before night however.

The Misses W came out to call yesterday they are very gushing. I must write down a few good lines I have found.

The Best Love Home love is the best love. The home that you are born in is the sweetest you will ever have on earth. You who are so curious to escape the house next, pause a moment & remember this.
