Somewhere in France
Oct 14/1916
Dear Sis:-
Received your epistle dated sometime
in September and was sure glad to hear from you
I did not see Oliver while in England
on account of being away from the camp to the
ranges and do not think he is in France to date
I cannot tell you very much Sis if
anything but can say I am at the Canadian Base
Depot. I do not know exactly when I will
be going to the line but anyway could not tell you
if I did - so whats the use? Officially I don't
know from what port we left England or where
we arrived in France but I do know it was a
humbly rough ride and that there was much
sickness. The bunch I was with was
detailed to clean the boat after disembarkation so
of course this meant additional sickness.
There were 310 of us come over as a
draft for two batallions so we do not expect to
be together for very long
I have seen several old Brantford
