As regards our work, things
have tightened up considerably and
I have been more nearly "all in"
during the last week than I have
been since I put on the uniform.
I don't know what is up, but the
general consensus of opinion is
that they are forming a new
Canadian Division to be ready by
Spring (which comes about the end
of February in this country) That
is: Sixteen battalions will ^go over
as a unit and go to the front together,
and we will be reinforced by
others. At any rate, they are proceeding
to finish us off ready for the
trenches in the Spring. There seems
to be no call for drafts at present.
We are to get real gas tests
here; we get practice with live
bombs; we will also shoot a
little with the Lee Enfield rifle (just
