into ward 2. We walked down the
aisle looking right & left for Cliff.
We did not go far before I noticed
him, & he had seen us & was staring
in amazement (we hadn't written him).
Then he nearly jumped right out of bed.

I sure enjoyed the hours spent
with Cliff, & believe me, I was tickled
to see him in as good condition. I
was under the impression that he
would have to have a leg amputated
at the hip, but he has lately done
splendidly. The thigh of his right
leg & his left wrist right where all
the small bones are were broken. There
was some shrapnel in him & this
caused considerable trouble. A piece
was taken out of the bone in his
right leg. He will never be able to bend
his left wrist but fortunately the cords
of his fingers are not injured. His right
leg will be a little shorter. It is not
healed up yet nor is his wrist, but
to my amazement he walks around
with a stick & walks two or three
