May 25th 9 a.m. Present Provost Dr James, Professor Burgess, Professor Tamblyn, C.C. Waller.

Minutes of the two previous meetings read & confirmed. After discussion of the 4th year paper in history which was considered rather difficult, it was decided that no action be taken.

The reports of the marks were then completed.

Dr Tamblyn reported that Powell had obtained 27 in his supplemental in English. Moved by Rev C.C. Wallen Seconded by Professor Burgess that subject to the [?] of Professor Tamblyn the Provost be requested to read the paper again with Dr Tamblyn. Carried unanimously

N.C. James 21 Sept 1906 10 a.m. A Faculty meeting was held at the college Present Provost James Prof. Alexander C.C. Wallen

The minutes of the previous meeting were read & confirmed.

The papers for supplemental examinations were discussed & assigned Greek 1st year to C.C. Wallen Latin to Prof. Alexander The Provost had written to Prof Patterson for mathematical papers.

The meeting then adjourned

10th Dec 1906 A meeting was held this day at 12.45 p.m.

Present The Provost, Prof. Patterson, Alexander, Wallace, Wallen.

The subject of Examinations was discussed & a tentative time-table adopted. It was decided that first year lectures would be omitted owing the Exams, but that as far as possible others would go on. The Examinations would be of the nature of test papers.

An application from the W.U. Musical & Literary Society was read asking that students taking part in a Play be given consideration at the Annual Examinations.

The Secretary was instructed to reply to the effect that it it is ouside the powers of the Faculty to give any consideration for work other than on the possible course without the permission of the Senate, & they were not prepared to make any recommendation to the Senate in regard to this application.

The holding of meetings in lecture rooms, during lecture hours & at other times & the disturbance made in the Libary were discussed. The general opinion seemed to be that no meeting should held without the express permission of the Provost

& that silence should be strictly enforced in the Library. The Provost was requested to frame a notice covering the above points.

The meeting then adjourned. N.C. James 19 Dec 1906 2 p.m. Present the Provost Dr James, Professors Alexander Patterson, Wallace, Wallen.

After considerable discussion it appeared that the Faculty agreed that no Professor should be appoint by students to serve on any committee of students or student society except as Chairman. Professors will accept Honorary offices, or when asked to be present will cooperate in any way that may further the object in view. Moved by Professor Alexander Seconded by Professor Patterson That this be placed on the minutes as expressing the general policy of the Faculty. Carried. The relation of Professor Wallace to the Editorial Board of In Cap & Gown was further discussed & owing to the General policy adopted by the Faculty it was moved by Professor Patterson Seconded by Professor Wallen

that in the opinion of the Faculty Professors can serve the student interest better by acting in an unattached capacity as advisors rather than by holding formal office, the Faculty have therefore requested Professors Wallace & Alexander to act as an advisory Committee to the Editorial Board of In Cap & Gown representing the Faculty. The names of the Professors are not to appear on the staff. Carried. The question of the advisability of presenting a play in the Western University Literary & Musical Society was discussed in view of the results in recent examinations It was moved by Professor Patterson sec by Prof. Wallen That as a result of this informal discussion the Faculty agree to take no formal action in regard to the presentation of a play, leaving the decision of that matter in the hands of the executive of the Literary Society & the Professors associated with them. Carried The meeting then adjourned. N.C. James 2 March 1907 2 p.m. Present Dr James, Profs Patterson, Alexander, Wallace, Wallen.
