Emmett Scott's Aides
Get New U. S. Berths

WASHINGTON, D. C., JULY 29.—The
office assistants of Dr. Emmett J.
Scott, who contributed so materially
to his success in the discharge of
his delicate and trying duties con-
nected with the office of special as-
sistant to the Secretary of War, have
all been given new assignments through
Secretary Baker, at the suggestion of
Dr. Scott. As is well known, Dr. Scott
has accepted the post of secretary-
treasurer of Howard University and
will remain in Washington.

Of the office corps, Dr. William H.
Davis, Dr. Scott's secretary, R. W.
Thompson, who conducted the publi-
city service, and James B. Smith,
stenographer, have been transferred
to the office of adjutant general,
War Department; Charles L. Webb,
stenographer, has gone to the Bureau
of War Risk Insurance, where also
Mrs. Madeline Childs, file clerk, will
be assigned upon return from a
special mission in France.

The changes were effective July 1.

Negro Republicans recognized,nothing for Negro Democrats.
