Princeton, New Jersey,

6 October, 1899.

Mr. James H. Moffatt, Princeton,

My dear Mr. Moffatt,

Please pardon my delay in replying to your letters. I have been waiting to make sure that I have no conflicting engagement for the evening you mention, November 17th. I am sorry to say that I am not yet certain. I have left that date open for some people I am to lecture for. I do not think they will select it, but they do not write.

I will take pleasure in serving the debating team as coach, and I shall certainly expect to act as judge. If leaving the latter uncertain for a little inconveniences your committee, pray go ahead an choose someone else. I think I shall know within a week. I am sorry to have kept you waiting.

The list of judges and the Question will have my very careful consideration.

With much regard,

Sincerely Yours, Woodrow Wilson
