Dear Sir: Yours of the 12th instant to hand. I regret that I am unable to give you any information regarding the matter therein referred to.
I had entirely forgotten the fact of the burning of the old Gymnasium. I remember very well that I was chairman of the committee that raised the funds for the equipment of the gymnasium. I very much doubt if any of the students were responsible for its destruction. As I remember it was a very cheap wooden affair, and I doubt if any one even considered it worth taking a picture of.
Regretting that I am unable to furnish you with the information that you desire,
I remain, Yours truly,
Spencer Trask
