My dear Mr. Moffatt:

I have your formal application for a Mastership in Latin or English, dated March 21st, with the accompanying admirable letters of recommendation from Dr. Patton, and Professors Fine, Wilson and Perry. The same mail brought me the letter you mention from Professor Robbins.

One could hardly be supported by better testimonials. I wish that you had had a year's experience in teaching, but possibly we may be able to give you that here.

The matter will have to lie on the table for a little while until it becomes clear who
