After lunch the Pres. & his three daughters went to join Mrs. Wilson as had been their cuatom sincex she had been confined closely to her room.

The doctor had submitted an unfavorable report as to her condition and the visit was just a little different from ones before on this account .

This was the afternoon spent, and when they left the room it was learned that Mrs.Wilso[n] had died at 5.00 o'clock.

Sec.McAdoo, Mr.Sayre and Sec.Tumulty had waited all this while in the west sitting room.

Dr. Grayson and Miss Harkness (nurse) were the only ones in add. to the Pres. & his daughs. who were in room at the end .

The remainder of the day & evening was spent in making t[he] necessary arrangements.

At least one member of the family remained up during this and the following nights.

Family remained indoors all forenoon; final arragmts. being made for Mrs.Wilson 's funeral.

Services were held in East Room at 2.00 o'clock.

Those present. in add. to family were Cabinet & wives, Comm.. from Senate & House consist. of 1 member from each State from both Houses, The New Jersey delegation and the house and office employees, Gov.Fielder & wife and 3 or 4 other close friends were also present.

The family entered after all the guests and the service was immed. begun by Rev.Beach & Taylor.

At its conclusion the family retired to 2d floor and guests departed.

No view of dead.

The flowers of tribute were beautiful and enormous in qualtity, filling the entire south end of room.

At 3.30 the casket was removed to station being followed by the Pres., Prof.Axson, Mr.Jos.Wilson & Mr.Geo.Howe.

At 4.15 the balance of party left sta.

These were Sec. & Mrs.McAdoo, Mr. & Mrs.Sayre, Miss Wilson, Mr.Edwin Wilson, Sec. Tumulty & Dr.Grayson.

Traln left at 4.35 for Rome, Ga.

Dr.Axson arrived from Oregon at 8.30 AM.
