Sir: On the 18th of November 1870, the Board requested that the President reserve Lots 3 and 4 of section 8, Township 11 W, Willamette Meridian, Oregon, for purposes of a Light House at Yaquina. Subsequently, after correspondence with the Engineer of the District, (then Major Williamson) there was purchased of Lester P. and Sophronia S. Baldwin. Lots 23 and 24, Section 7; Lot 5 and N. W. 1/4 of S. W. 1/4; and S. W. 1/4 of N. W. 1/4 of Section 8, of the same Township. Lots 3 and 4 of Section 8 have been withdrawn from sale and can be reserved on application of the Board. Will you please to state whether in your opinion the reservation of the whole or a part of this land is to be desired, or whether it should be again opened for sale.
