Chairman Light House
Board
Washington D. C.
Sir:
In reply to your letter
of 3"Jan. received
during my absence, I
have the honor to state
that I have just returned
from Cape Foulweather,
where I found 16
castings, & 16 cases
lanterns, but the floor-
lights are missing: Box
No 6, containing 16
rafters, & 16 Tie Rods;
and 2 of the Boxes No
10, 11, 12, 13. Instead
of No 6, 10 & 11 (or
12,13) 3 boxes of glass
for lantern were sent,
which of course were
needed, but are not in
the invoice. Gen.
Michler says the missing
boxes are not in San
Francisco. The work
will not be delayed on
account of the floor-plates
(glass); and can be
completed in 2 weeks
after the missing pieces
are received at Newport.
Very respectfully,
Your obedient servant,
Henry M Robert
Maj. of Eng'rs & L. H. Eng'r,
Thirteenth District
