27: Light S.West to East S. and S.W. breeze these 24 hours with frequent rain showers. Sea very rough. General duties for the day. Barometer down to 29.84. Steamer Willamett Valley crossed the Yaquima bar at 10.A.M.

28: Light S. East wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze S. to S.West with frequent rain showers. Sea quite rough. Keeper varnishing his Hack today. 2nd ass't went to Newport on business.

29: Gale to moderate breeze South to S. West these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours hard rain. Last part of 24 hours frequent rain showers. Sea smooth. Steamer Willamett Valley sailed. Keeper making out Quarterly & Monthly returns. 1st ass't went to Newport today.

30: Light S. East wind with rain and hail showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light West N.W. wind fair weather. Sea very rough. The barometer is going up. Keepers putting Keeper's hack together today.

31: Light variable winds with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate and fresh freeze to a light gale S.E. to S. cloud and little damp. Sea quite smooth. The barometer is going down. Keeper making out Quarterly and Monthly returns.

April

1: Strong to fresh and moderate breeze South to S. West with frequent rain and hail squalls. Sea moderately smooth. General duties for day. 1st ass't went fishing and went to Newport to take the Quarterly and Monthly reports.

2: Light variable winds with rain and hail showers during most of 24 hours. The barometer is going up at little it stands 29.90 at 4.P.M. Sea little rough. General duties for day. Keeper and 2nd ass't went to Newport for some supplies.

3: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze West to N. West these 24 hours with frequent rain showers during 24 hours. Sea little rough. General duties for the day. The barometer is going [up] it is 30.20 at 3.30 P.M.

4: Light N.W. to variable winds and calm these 24 hours, first part of 24 hours light rain showers. Last part of 24 hours fair weather. Sea moderately smooth. Keeper and 1st ass't went fishing today. 1st ass't also went to Newport. Keepers putting 200 gall of Oil in Oil room and cleaning lamp and polishing it today.

5: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze S. East to South these 24 hours with hard rain during 24 hours. Sea moderately smooth. 1st ass't cleaning burner today. The barometer is going down a little it is 30.35 at 2. P.M.

6: Light variable winds little damp first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze N.W. cloudy but dry. Sea little rough. General duties for day. Keeper & 2nd ass't went to Newport after Mr. Plummer and got some supplies. Steamer Willamett Valley arrived and crossed bar this morning.
