January 5: General duties for the day - The barometer down to 29.40 - Keeper went to Newport to mail letters & get supplies.
6: Moderate breeze West with frequent rain and hail squalls first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light variable winds fair weather - Sea quite smooth - General duties for day - The barometer down to 29.84 today.
7: Light wind S. West wind to moderate breeze East first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze S. East - dry and fair weather during 24 hours - Sea smooth - Keepers putting 200 gallons of mineral oil in office - The barometer 29.98 today - There is a steamer S. West of this light at 9 A.M. about 12 miles off flying signal of distress looks like the steamer Bandorville under sail - At 2 P.M. she is about 3 miles West of the Whistling buoy off the entrance of Yaquina bar. Steamer Volanta of Yaquina went out over the bar to assist the steamer Bandorville over the bar to Newport - crossed the bar 4:30 P.M.
8: Fresh breeze East to S. East to gale South these 24 hours with rain during 24 hours - Sea rough - General duties for the day - The barometer down to 29.42 today - Keeper cleaning out the barn today.
x 9: Moderate breeze to light wind South these 24 hours with frequent rain & fog showers - Sea quite smooth - General duties for the day. 1st assistant went fishing. The barometer 30.00 today. Keeper repairing lock on watch-room door. Mr. James B. Hermann 2nd asst. went to Newport after mail and get supplies. Left the station at 10 A.M.
10: Fresh breeze South with frequent rain showers during 24 hours - Sea moderately smooth - General duties for the day - The barometer down to 29.76 today - Mr. Hermann 2nd asst. returned to the station at 2:45 P.M. The steamer that went in over the Yaquina bar the 7th at 4:30 P.M. flying signal of distress was the Bandorvill, Capt. Wenant. She left the Coquille the 1st of January for San Francisco - The 2nd lost a part of her rudder in a gale and had to make a false rudder out of the boom. She drifted north until off of Yaquina and entered safely the 7th.
x 11. Fresh to strong breeze South first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light South wind with rain during 24 hours - Sea rough - General duties for the day. The barometer down to 29.50 - Keeper went to Newport after supplies. Left the station at 9:00 A.M.
12: Gale to fresh breeze South these 24 hours with hard rain during 24 hours - Sea rought - General duties for the day - The barometer down to 29.30 - Keeper returned to the station at 3:45 P.M.
13: Gale to fresh and moderate breeze S to S.W. and West with rain first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea rough - General duties for the day - The barometer 29.95 today.
14: Light East wind these 24 hours with fair and cool weather - Sea moderately smooth - General duties for the day -Steamers Homer and Alcatraz sailed from Yaquina for San Francisco - 1st and 2nd assts went to Newport after supplies.
15: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze East these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours rain - Last part of 24 hours fair weather & cool - Sea smooth - Keeper and 1st asst putting stove in Office - The barometer 29.15 - 2nd asst went to Newport to send off for his uniform.
16. Fresh breeze East to light S. East wind these 24 hours first part of 24 hours little damp - Last part of 24 hours light rain showers - Sea quite rough - General duties for the day - The barometer went down to 28.80 today.
17. Moderate to fresh breeze East with rain, hail, and snow first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light S. East wind damp - Sea moderately smooth - General duties for day - The barometer went down to 28.95 today.
