January 19: Moderate to fresh breeze N.W. to North with rain first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light North wind fair and cool weather - Sea quite rough - general duties for day - 1st asst went fishing and to Newport after mail & supplies.

20: Moderate to fresh breeze East these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours fair and cool weather - last part of 24 hours rain and snow - Sea smooth - General duties for the day - The barometer down to 29.35 during 24 hours - Steamer Bandorville Capt Winant sailed for San Francisco at 7 A.M. - 1st asst went fishing - 2nd asst went to Newport to take mail and get supplies.

21: Light wind to moderate breeze East with snow and rain showers during 24 hours - Sea quite rough. Keeper and 1st asst cleaning dressing out of the barn - The barometer down to 29.50 today.

22: Light East to S. East wind these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather and warmer - Sea moderately smooth - Steamer Homer arrived from San Francisco and crossed Yaquina bar to Yaquina City - 1st asst putting dressing on his garden - Keeper and 1st asst went fishing - 2nd asst went to Newport to take & get mail.

23: Light variable winds these 24 hours with light rain showers - Sea smooth - The barometer 30.00 today - Had two visitors - Keeper 1st and 2nd assts sweeping and cleaning rooms in their Quarters.

24. Light variable winds these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea smooth - Keeper and 1st and 2nd assts scrubbing and cleaning out their respective Quarters - The barometer is 30.20 today - 2nd asst went to Newport to take & get the mail - Steamer Alcatraz arrived from Frisco - Steamer Homer sailed for Sanfrancisco from Yaquina.

25: Light East wind these 24 hours with clear fine and cool weather. Sea very smooth - 2nd asst scrubbing and cleaning his quarters - Steamer Alcatraz came out of Yaquina and framed the cape going North - Keeper cleaning out chicken house - 1st asst went fishing and to Newport - Had two visitors today - Mr. Whitten haueled a load of household goods for 2nd asst from Newport today.

26: Light variable winds and calm first part of 24 hours- Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze North with fair and cool weather - Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper went to Newport after supplies - 2nd asst scrubbing and cleaning his quarters - A steamer crossed in over the Yaquina bar coming from the South looked like L.H. Tender Manzanita.

The barometer 30.10 today - U.S. Steamer Manzanita crossed out of Yaquina repaired the Whistler and sailed South - 2nd asst returned to station at 2:15 A.M.

29: Light North wind and calm first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze North clear fine and cool weather during 24 hours - Sea smooth - general duties for day - 1st asst went fishing - 2nd asst went to Newport after mail - Had 3 visitors.

30: Light North wind dry and cool first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light variable winds little damp - sea rough - 1st and 2nd assts painting floors and staircases lead collor in 2nd assts quarters - Keeper & 1st asst taking covers off of coal oil cases preparing to empty them.

31: Light North wind with light rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light variable winds fair and warmer weather - Sea quite smooth - Steamer Homer arrived and crossed in over Yaquina Bar from Sanfrancisco at 11 A.M. - Keeper and 1st asst putting 200 Gals of Mineral Oil in office - 2nd asst went to Newport after mail & supplies.
