1899

February 1: Fresh breeze West to N.West with frequent rain and hail squalls first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light S. East wind damp and fair weather. Sea very rough. 2nd Asst making a book case in shop. Barometer 29.30 to 29.45 today.

2: Light wind to moderate breeze East these 24 hours with fair and cold weather. Sea quite smooth. General duties for the day. 1st Asst went to Newport after supplies post and get the mail. 2nd Asst working on agates. Barometer 29.68.

3: Light East wind clear dry & cold weather these 24 hours. Sea smooth. Barometer 29.80 to 30.04 today. 1st Asst cleaning his quarters and taking covers off of mineral oil cases. Keeper & 2nd Asst cleaning oil carriers ??? oil filler and hand-lanterns.

4: Moderate breeze to light East wind clear fair and cold weather. Sea very smooth. 1st Asst and Keeper putting dressing on garden. 1st Asst cleaning reflectors and draw off cocks on oil-butts. 2nd Asst went to Newport to get supplies & mail. Barometer 30.10.

5: Fresh breeze East these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours snow. Last part of 24 hours fair & cold. Sea very smooth. General duties for day. Barometer 29.90 to 3.10.

6: Light East wind dry fair and cold weather these 24 hours. SEa very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st Asst went to Newport after supplies. Barometer 30.24. U.S. Light-House Tender Manzanita arrived off the bar at Yaquina from the South at 4:45 P.M. and anchored.

7: Moderate to fresh breeze to gale S. East to South these 24 hours with hard rain moste of 24 hours. Sea moderately smooth. General duties for the day. Barometer 30.03. 2nd Asst went to Newport after supplies.

8: Fresh to moderate breeze South with rain these 24 hours & thick fog last part of 24 hours. Sea quite smooth. General duties for the day. 2nd Asst takeing water out of his celler Barometer 3.12 today. Mr. J.G. Kelley Superintendent of Construction arrived at the Station at 3:30 to see what is needed in the sake of repairs and left the station at 4:30.

9: Fresh breeze South these 24 hours with rain and thick weather. SEa quite rough. General duties for the day. 2nd Asst working in the shop repairing his agate cutting machine. Barometer 29.90 to 29.98 today.

10: Light North wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours light rain. Last part of 24 hours fair and warmer weather. SEa smooth. General duties for the day. 1st and 2nd Assts went to Newport after supplies. Barometer 30.10 to 30.15 today.

11: Fresh & moderate breeze to light East wind these 24 hours with fair weather. Sea smooth. Keeper went to Newport after mail & supplies. Barometer 30.02. 1st and 2nd Assts putting 200 gallons of mineral oil in oil-butts today.

12: Light wind to moderate breeze S. East to South these 24 hours with thick fog and light rain showers. Sea quite smooth. General duties for day. Barometer 30.10. U.S.L. Tender Manzanita laying off the Yaquina bar all day. siter her there at 8 A.M.

13: Light South and variable winds these 24 hours with thick fog & light rain showers moste of 24 hours. Sea quite rough. 2nd Asst makeing a cold frame in his garden and getting coal oil cases for kindling. Keeper went over to Mrs Megginson after a plant about 1/2 mile from station. Barometer 30.20. U.S. Light-House Tender Manzanita off the Yaquina bar putting down a whistling buoy & left for the North at 1:30 P.M.

14: Light wind to moderate & fresh breeze S.E. to South these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours rain showers. Last part of 24 hours rain & fair weather. Sea moderately smooth. General duties for the day. Barometer 29.98 to 30.10. 1st Asst went to Newport after mail & supplies. U.S. Light-House Tender off the bar attending to whistling buoy & passed the station at 8 A.M. going North. 2nd Asst makeing cold frames in his garden.

15: Light West wind these 24 hours with frequentlight rain & fog showers. SEa rough. General duties for teh day. 2nd Asst went over to Big Creek. Barometer 30.32 today. 1st Asst working in his garden fixing his pie??? plant.
