1898

August 1: Light variable winds and calm first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light North wind with thick damp fog during 24 hours. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. 2nd asst went to Newport to post and get the mail. Keepers showing visitors in the Tower. Had thirty eight visitors. Barometer down to 29.72. U.S. Light House tender crossed into Yaquina at 9:30 a.m. Commander J??? C. Morong arrived at the Station at 2:30 p.m. Inspected the Station and left at 4 p.m. for Newport where he attend to the buoy work there.

2: Light North and South wind with thick damp fog these 24 hours. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper went to Newport to receive annual supplies. 1st asst showing 14 visitors in tower & went fishing. Barometer down to 29.90 today.

3: Light wind to moderate breeze North these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours thick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours fair weather. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Mr. Stimpson hauled one load of supplies. Barometer 29.90. Had eight visitors. 1st asst went to Newport after supplies. 2nd asst went to Newport after mail. Keeper taking account of supplies.

General duties for the day. 1st asst showing visitors in Tower and putting Mineral Oil in Oil house. Had twenty visitors. Barometer 29.70. Keeper went to Newport after supplies. U.S. Light House tender Manzanita passed out of Yaquina & passed North at 3:15 p.m.

Keeper went to Newport to mail receipts to Inspector & Capt of Ste Manzanita. Had thirty three visitors. Barometer 29.90.

Keeper went over to Big Creek after rasberries. 2nd Asst Harry Sherman Littlefield resigned to take effect the 15th. He having got a position in the wooling mills at Oregon City if he would come at once. The Keeper let him leave the station at 1 P.M. today four days before the time.
