1902 MONTH. DAY. RECORD OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AT THE STATION, BAD WEATHER, &c.

March 19: Moderate breeze north to light east wind fair and cool first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate and fresh breeze south fair weather to rain - Sea quite smooth - Keeper writing in office & spadeing garden - 1st asst planting garden - 2nd asst cutting wood - Barometer 29.68 to 29.94

March 20: Moderate breeze South to light West wind these 24 hours first part of 24 hours rain - Last part of 24 hours light rain showers and fair weather - Sea quite smooth - Barometer 29.82 to 29.90 - 1st asst went to Newport - 2nd asst cutting wood - Keeper spadeing and planing garden today

March 21: Light wind and moderate breeze West these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours frequent rain and hail showers - Last part of 24 hours light rain showers and fair - Sea rough - Barometer 29.80 to 29.96 - Keeper and asst cleaning out the water closet today

March 22: Moderate breeze South with rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze to gale S. to S. West rain and hail - Sea rough - General duties for the day Barometer 29.90 to 29.94 - Keeper went to Newport after mail & supplies

March 23: Fresh breeze S. West to light East wind first part of 24 hours with rain hail & snow - Last part of 24 hours light North wind fair and light showery weather - Sea very rough - General duties for the day - Barometer 29.42 to 29.60 - Keeper went about one mile from sta on business

March 24: Light North to East and S. East wind these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours clear fine and cool - Last part of 24 hours fair and cloudy - Sea rough - Barometer 29.72 to 29.88 - Keeper and 2nd asst washing - 1st asst spading garden - Keeper working on quarterly reports today

March 25: Light South wind to fresh breeze North these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours rain - Last part of 24 hours frequent rain and hail squalls and fair weather - Sea rough - Barometer 29.80 to 30.20 - 1st asst repairing fence arround the Keepers dwelling showing three visitors in the Tower and went fishing - Keeper & 2nd asst went to Newport to vote at the Primaries

March 26: Light variable winds these 24 hours with light rain and ??? weather - Sea quite rough - Barometer 30.20 - 1st asst working in garden and went fishing - 2nd asst spadeing garden - Keeper working in garden and planting potatoes & working on reports

March 27: Light wind to moderate breeze North thse 24 hours with frequent light rain showers - Sea quite rough - Barometer 30.34 to 30.27 - 1st asst went to newport after mail and supplies and spading garden - Keeper planting peas - 2nd asst spadeing and planting garden today

March 28: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze North these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours cloudy - Last part of 24 hours clear fine and cool - Sea quite smooth - Barometer 30.30 - Keeper mixing paint - 2nd asst to paint in his quarters - 2nd asst spadeing in his garden and putting alabaster on walls of his quarters - 1st asst spadeing in his garden & went fishing - Keeper writing in office

March 29: Moderate breeze to light North wind these 24 hours - clear fine and cool - Sea very smooth - Barometer 30.20 to 29.94 - 1st asst went fishing - Keeper spadeing garden and cleaning paint brushes - 2nd asst went to Newport after mail & supplies - Keeper writing in office

March 30: Light wind to fresh breeze East and moderate breeze South these 24 hours with fair weather - Sea very smooth - Barometer 29.88 - Keeper working on quarterly reports to Inspector & Engineers - 1st asst went ocean fishing - 2nd asst went trout fishing 3 miles from the station

March 31: Fresh breeze S. to light North wind these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours light rain - Last part of 24 hours fair - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.83 to 29.70 - Keeper went to newport to get supplies and post monthly and quarterly reports - 2nd asst cleaning wood work in his quarters to paint - 1st asst spadeing garden - and went fishing

15: Moderate breeze to light East wind with clear fine weather first part of 24 hours -- Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze South fair and thick fog -- Sea smooth -- Barometer 29.82 -- Keeper & 1st asst mixing paint to paint picket fence around Keeper dwelling -- 2nd asst cleaning and painting in his quarters Keeper and 2nd asst having there garden spaded up today

May 2: Light S. East to variable winds these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours light rain showers. Last part of 24 hours cloudy and clearing weather. Sea smooth. Barometer 30 to 30.18. Keeper and Assts. painting picket fence. 1st Asst. went ocean fishing. 2nd Asst. went trout fishing at North beach

May 3: Light west to N. west wind these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 30.10 to 30.00 - Keeper went to Newport after mail & supplies - 1st and 2nd assts painting on picket fence around dwelling.

May 4: Light variable winds to moderate and fresh breeze North these 24 hours with clear fine weather. Sea smooth. General duties for the day-Barometer 29.96 to 29.85. 1st Asst. showing visitors in Tower. Had seven visitors. 2nd Asst. went to Newport after mail and supplies.

May 5: Light variable winds and calm to light North wind North these 24 hours with fair and warme weather. Sea smooth. Barometer 29.76. Mr. Whitter hauled 9 sacks of coal. Keeper and Assts. painted the Barn today. 1st Asst. working in garden & went fishing.

May 6: Fresh breeze East to light South wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours damp. Last part of 24 hours light rain. Sea smooth. Barometer 29.76 to 29.86. Keeper and Assts. painting on Keepers dwelling. Mr. Whitter hauling coal from Newport to the station.

May 7: Light South wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours thick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours fair and thick fog. Sea s,pptj. Barometer 29.85 to 30.00. Keeper and Assts. painting trimming on Keepers dwelling. 1st Asst. went fishing. Keeper & 1st Asst. putting stage on back of dwelling to paint same. 2nd Asst. went to Newport for sequestration. Left sta. at 1 P.M.

May 8: Light North to South wind and calm these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours thick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours heigh day fog. Sea smooth. Barometer 30.00. Keeper painting on Keepers dwelling. Mr. Whitter, hauling coal. 2nd Asst. returned to sta. at 7:30 A.M.

May 9: Light variable winds these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours thick damp fog. Last part of 24 hours heigh day fog & cloudy. Sea smooth. Barometer 30.00 to 29.84. Keeper went over on south beach after razor clams. 1st Asst. went fishing. Keeper and 1st Asst. mixing paint to paint light Tower. Keeper and Assts. painted on Keepers dwelling and water tank.

May 10: Light wind to moderate & fresh breeze South these 24 hours- with rain showers. Sea smooth. Barometer 29.76 to 29.84. 2nd Asst. went on beach after clams. 1st Asst. went fishing. Keeper went to Newport after supplies. Mr. Whitter completed hauling coal.

May 11: Fresh breeze to light South wind these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours rain showers. Last part of 24 hours fair weather. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Barometer 29.85. 1st Asst. went fishing. 2nd Asst. went to Newport after mail and supplies.

West these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours rain showers - Last part of 24 hours clearing weather - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.76 to 30.06 - Keeper & assts scrubbing lantern floor whitewashing in lantern painting in lantern brushing the walls inside of Tower and putting 200 gallons of mineral oil in Oil butts - 1st asst went to Newport after mail & supplies

May 18: Fresh to strong breeze W. N. West these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours frequent rain & hail squalls - Last part of 24 hours cloudy and cool - Sea rough - Barometer 30.05 to 29.94 - Keeper & assts painted lantern floor & steps black - Keeper & 2nd asst went to Newport after mail & supplies

May 19: Fresh breeze West N. West these 24 hours with light rain showers - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.92 - Keeper and assts cleaning and whitewashing inside of the Tower & mixing paint - 1st asst went to Newport after mail and supplies

May 20: Moderate breeze to light wind W. N. West these 24 hours cloudy but dry - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.93 to 29.87 - Keeper and assts painted stairs & landings black in tower and cleaning plate glass in lantern - Had three visitors today

May 23: Moderate to fresh breeze North these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours light rain - Last part of 24 hours clear fine weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 30.06 - Keeper & assts painted stars & landing in Tower & scrubbing office & work room floors - 2nd asst returned to sta at 8A.M. - 1st asst went to Newport after supplies

May 24: Moderate to fresh breeze North these 24 hours with clear fine weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 30.06 to 29.98 - 1st and 2nd assts whitewashing fences - 1st asst went fishing - Keeper went to Newport after mail and supplies - Had two visitors
