The Board has also asked the appointment of Mr. Fred J. Booth, pending selection from an eligible list. If you desire to continue the services of Mr. Booth it will be necessary for you to examine him and send his name on an eligible list as laborer, giving him due weight for experience, before he can receive a regular appointment, as the salary of the position is in excess of $300. a year, although the duties of the position do not occupy all the time and attention of the appointee. The Department will not consider the fact stated in your letter, that the pay is not for personal salary only.
