The Lighthouse Department have at the entrance to Yaquina Bay a reservation consisting of probably 30 acres of land, on which there stands an old abandoned lighthouse with a keeper's building. This land is of no use to the Government, and I desire to ask you if it cold be leased for a long term of years for the purpose of building a hotel and perhaps some cottages. The locality is something of a seaside resort and I think it could be made available in this way.
I shall be glad to hear from you on the subject as soon as possible.
