SIR:

I have the honor to make the following Report of Operations for the month of May:
Cape Foulweather Lt. Station Oregon 1871-72 completed metal work for Light House + Inspection of the same. Commenced transportation by land of materials from Newport. Commenced work on foundation for tower.
Probable Operations for June
Transport materials from Portland, San Francisco, & Newport. Continue work on Tower Foundation.

Cape Hancock Lt. Station, Wash. Terty
Furnished materials for painting Tower.

Cape Flattery Lt. Station, Wash. Terty.
Sent Light House Clerk & men to complete the erection of Steam Fog Signal. Found excavation of cistern completed, & much time expended in transportation of materials from Neah Bay, with only half a dozen canoe loads actually delivered on the Island of materials landed at Neah Bay. Brought 20 Tons of Sand from main land, also the balance of lumber from Neah Bay and the "Warm House" at which point much of the lumber had been landed from a wrecked raft in April.
