Fellow Citizens, It is with extreme diffidence that I arise to adding, ^you^ after your desires have been raised, and your hopes flattered with the expectations of listening to the superior oratory of one, who is matured in age, and who [illegible]1 all the advantages of extraordinary talents, and who has had ample time to investigate all the causes which led to that glorious revolution which terminated which terminated in the independence of the United States — In him you might well expect to be united that harmonious voice and those graceful gestures which are completely attained to the harp of eloquence; and which are admirably calculated to strike the imagination + touch with a delicate hand the scent springs of papion [papillion?]2 and awaken all those pleasing sensations which form in the ravished mind, such a heavenly train of delights — But your persistent speaker comes before you [unprepared]3 — He is one who has always had the humble walks of life — gracious and charming have withheld their precious gems from his grasp — ambition never find his soul — and his lips were never laughs to lisp the sweet strains of eloquence to tickle and charm the ear.
