Fort Worth, Texas, April 20,1899.

To the City Council
of the City of Fort Worth:

Your petitioner, W. H.Nanny, would show unto your Honorable
body that the is the owner of Lot No.14 in Block 42, and an undived half
interest in Lot No.2 in Block No.41, of said City; that said Lot No.14
in Block No.42 is assessed by the City at $7500.00, and that said half
interest in Lot No.2 in Block No.41 is assessed by the City at $3500.00.

Your petitioner further charges that he is advised and believes
and here charges that said assessments are grossly excessive; that lots
in said Block No.42, of the same sixe as plaintiff's lot and similarly
improved, are assessed at from $4000.00 to $5000.00; and that ^1/2 interest in lots in
Block No.41, of the same size as plaintiff's and with like improvements,
are assessed at from $2000.00 to $2500.00; that the assessment of plaintiff's
said property, as aforesaid, is grossly excessive and unjust to
your petitioner.

Your petitioner further says that he has paid said taxes on
Lot No.14, Block 42, assessed at $7500.00, but has not paid the taxes on
said half interest in Lot No.2, Block 41, but is ready and willing to do
so when the assessment thereof is made equitable;

Wherefore he prays that said assessment of Lot 14, Block 42 be
reduced to five thousand dollars, and the assessment of said half interest
in Lot 2, Block 41 be reduced to twenty-two hundred and fifty-dollars
making the total assessment Seventy-two hundred and fifty Dollars; and
that the amount paid by him in excess of the amount properly due on
$7250.00 be refunded to him.
