Thursday, Dec. 2d -
Rec'd Letter Rec'd a letter from sister Elizabeth this morning, dated, Sharpsburg, MD, Nov. 29th and mailed Nov, 30th, 10am. Remarkable short time intransite
Snow: Temp . at 7 am, 8° . Strong north wind. Snow 1 in. at 9:30 am

Friday. Dec. 3d Snow: Two inches of snow last night. Visitor: Mrs. Ella Baker dined with us today

Saturday, Dec. 4th.

Sleted: Sleeted to-day. Ice frozen on sidewalks. Temp. all day about 32° Blizzard in the West: Heavy snow storms in the west yesterday.

Married Charles Eshelman and Miss Effie Crump were married to-day at LaCross, Wi.

Mt. Morris, Ill. Sunday, Dec. 5, 1897.

Monday, Dec. 6th Wrote Letter. Mailed Letter (18 pages post) to sister Elizabeth, which I commenced writting on the 27th Nov. New Neighbors. Mrs. Ella Winders dined with us to-day. She has moved into Mrs. Lizzie Newcomer's dwelling just east of us. Visitor. Mrs. Ella Baker visited with us this evening.

Tuesday, Dec. 7th. Sleighing. A good deal of sleighing is done to-day on a scant amount of snow. Visitor. Miss Lulu Middour visited with us this evening. Married Fred Stark and Miss Pearl Routzahn were married this evening. Squire J. Hiestand officiating.

Death A telegram received here this morning announces the death of Frederick B.Brayton, at State Center, Iowa.

To Kansas City Henry Sharer went to Kansas City to spend the winter, on the 10:30 a.m. train.

Saturday 11th

Body Rec'd The remains of F.B. Brayton arrived here on the 12:28 p.m. train.

Sunday, 12th

Mr. F. B. Brayton's Funeral Funeral of F.B Brayton took place at the M.E. Church at 11 o'clock a.m. Rev A.S. Mason preached. See Scrap book page 610 for obituary

Mt. Morris, Ill., Dec. 13, 1897.

Snow: Snow commenced falling gently at 5 p.m., on very muddy roads Anti-Masonic Meeting: An anti-secret society convention commenced its sessions in Seibert Hall at 2 p.m.--Prof. Blanchard of Wheaton College being one of the principal speakers. He is an excellent speaker.

Tuesday, Dec. 14th Snow: Two inches of snow fell last night, & a light snow this a.m. Mild weather. Temp at 2p.m. 32 degrees.

Wednesday, Dec. 15th Mild weather: Mild weather has prevailed for about 10 days, scarcely getting to the freezing point.

Thursday, Dec. 16th Cold. High Wind: Remarkable fall in termperatures. At 2 p.m. yesterday the temp was 32; this morning at 7 it was 4---same thermo. 0. High wind; clear.

Mount Morris, Friday, Dec. 17, 1897

Snow. Snow last night and this morning to the depth of 2 inches. Sleighing. Good sleighing is now insured for some time. Temp. this morning at 7 a.m., zero, by most thermometers. Visitor - Jennie Fearer visits us today. Hydrant Frozen. Hydrant froze this morning. Herbert E. Snavely, and Elenore Goff were married at Sharpsburg, MD, at 3 p.m. The former of Sharpsburg the latter of Briliant, Ohio.

Saturday, Dec. 18th Coldest day. Temp at 7 a.m., -10. Hydrant froze again this morning.
