but on this op. we carried a 68 set on back
A coming in about 7:30 preceeded w 231 infantry
Brigade, firing from gun positions (88 m on
cliff) no small arms fire -- nothing hitting as
we land (6th L craft) underwater obs
sunk us -[?being?] holed. 2 def went down
but chaps got ashhore. Our own craft
holed. Until firing we were singing away
pop. service songs. everybody quite
gay. As soon as we realised [crossed out]we/[end crossed out]
somebody "was opposed to our landing"
things on the craft quietened down.
A few [illegible] beach -- no other to be there.
