Report on progress of work for January.

"Kinnear Park."

The grading and construction in this park is now completed with the exception of about 300 feet of the protection railing along the paths on the face of the bluffs. ----

I have done considerable planting and transplanting and the men are now making pockets preparatory to covering the whole face of the bluffs with hardy vines and trailing shrubs.

4 Cerasus lauro-cerasus, cherry laurel. 500 Hyacinths, 500 Tulips, 300 Ranunculus, 300 Anemone,

Total length of walks in park 6 feet-wide wide 2634 lineal feet. 8 feet-wide 145 lineal feet. 10 feet-wide 4364 lineal ft. 12 feet-wide 103 lineal ft.

Total length of walks 4249 lineal feet. One bridge 90 feet and one 31 feet. ----

I wish to suggest the necessity of erecting a closet and toilet room for ladies and children at an expense of $150.00. ----

"Denny Park" By arrangement made through the city engineer with contractor Rice I have been able so far to secure teams free of charge to the Park Fund, thereby affecting a saving of from $20.00 to $36.00 per day. -- 1500 cubic yards of dirt moved during the month, nearly one third of the entire grading ----

"City Park"

With the exception of the men necessary to run the teams the entire force is now employed in this park, clearing and grubbing.--- I have excavated and built an underground tank f or water for temporary use, 8 ft. x 8 x 11 deep. capacity 4000 gallons.---

As we are already very much crowded for room in the propagating house, I would like to be authorized to erect a lath house for protecting and hardening off plants from the hot house. Cost $50.---
