2 Bands at the Fair Hot Weather

Dined wit John Piper

came down with the excursion this AM & played alternately with the Reno Band on the Grand Stand at the races -- this PM -- Today and yesterday were as hot as we have had it this season -- sweltering hot --

Thursday Sept 29

Somewhat cloudy and cooler -- Was at Pavilion couple of hours, and at 2PM arrived on Fair grounds by the 'bus -- Took look at cattle in the sheds, particularly Gov Stamfords of Cal, Hoistein -- [Friesian] -- cattle -- Was too late for the stock parade, but saw some of the races, wrote up, got off letter all right -- Met John Piper on return to town & he took me to dinner with him at the Palace Restaurant -- Home --

Beer and Honey

Evening at Pavilion -- Good crowd -- Secured advertisement of Weland's beer, drank a lot of it -- came home at 10:30 with 4 neat little 1/2 lb combs of honey, presented by EA ["Brad"] Moore the well known [sentence removed] honey promoter -- Bed at 11 --

Friday Sept 30

Clear and pretty warm -- AM visited the bottling works of Wieland's lager beer, just below the railroad depot -- Interviewed JB Francis agent, had sundry glasses of cold lager from the ice -- house and secured a $10 ad per month for the Enterprise -- PM at fair grounds -- Usual races etc -- Evening at Pavilion with wife & family -- Bed at 11 1/2 --
