Clear & pleasant -- Rose at 7, shaved tec, & got left by the 8:25 excursion train -- About house most of the day -- Telegraphed Reno for report & got it mostly through Powning -- Bed at 2 --

Tuesday Sept 27

Clear, & very hot -- Rode on morning exursion train to Fair ground -- 3 coaches well filled -- Comstock miners being given chance to attend Fair for the day -- Ladies riding, Indian pony race, other races evening home to Reno -- Bed 9 -- The balloon failed today only going up about 50 ft --

The Big Day of the Fair

Wednesday Sept 28

Same -- The excursion train brought 2 carloads from the Comstock, & 5 from Carson, the business men closing in Carson & Reno today for the Fair -- The attendance was therefore double what it has been yet -- I went through the Pavilion in AM, taking notes -- Met Sam Davis & wife & little daughter -- Went to Lake House & had lunch or dinner with them at noon -- The excursion train ran out to the grounds at 1 PM taking all who wished -- I went -- Ladies riding, successful balloon ascension -- Big bicycle race with twelve entries from the Carson & Reno clubs, won by the Carsons in 3:34 -- single mile dash -- Indian ponly race & other races -- Excursion went back at 5:15 as usual -- Evening at Pavilion with wife -- crowded -- brilliant time, with music, electic lights, etc -- Bed at 11:30 -- I got my letter off to Enterprise by excursion, as usual -- About a column of it -- The carson brass band
