would not be that, I think except, perhaps in form, for I don't believe he is guilty.
I am not an I.W.W. nor a labor agitator neither am I a member of the Socialist Party, but I am merely an ordinary school teacher and wish to take this way of trying to help one whom I believe to be innocent.
I am trusting in your desire for justice and mercy.

Governor Spry, Salt Lake City, Utah,
Dear Sir:- For some years I have been looking forward to the time that I could become a resident of your Beautiful City and very naturally kept as close watch of events there as I could, in that way I became interested in the case of Joseph Hillstrom and wrote you previously, in reply received a copy of the case, this I have read carefully.
Can a man be convicted, even upon his confession, where no MOTIVE is shown or prevue? Not in the State of Wis.
I cannot know the under-current that moves this case but such there must be and you may know and be unbale to prevent it at almost any cost.
I cannot know that you will be interested in my desition to remain in this State but I feel that it is due me to tell you that this case has caused me to make that desition and that I believe that a greater Jury is to-day sitting on this case than anyone can emagine.
Thanking you for this and my former intrusion I am respectfully
C.T. Stone

Dear Sir: There seems to be evidence to the effect that JOe Hill is a victim of misidentity.
In view of this it would seem just to give him a new trial.
Very Truly yours M. Shadid

Honorable William Spry Governor of Utah Salt lake City Utah.
Honorable Sir- As I have noticed in the news paper's about one Joe Hill in your state having been sentenced to be shot, as there is some doubt about his guilt; and as it has happened time and time again that innocent people have been so executed and therefore becomes absolute murder. I kindly ask you to use the influence of your office as well as yourself that no mistake will be made in this case, I am truly yours for justice and humanity

Hon William Spry Gov. Salt Lake City Utah,
Most Hon. Sir: I write you this letter to plead for Joe Hill, who is convicted on circumstantial evidence, and was not given a fair trial and who also is not guilty of this most serious charge.
