Edward Tucker Esq;
Sir,
I received you letter by ship () Portland with your accot. [account] The ale is pritty well. Tasted, tasted but I suppose it is not yet ripe. Captain Russell importuned me for some Tobacco to help to fill his ship; but there is no such thing as buying with cash to get anything by it, so I have been only able to send you (left blank ___) hhds,
which I wish safe to a tolerable good market and a quick sale, for I think nothing can be much more disagreeable than to expect an accot. [account] of sales for two years than to have a bad price for ones Tobo.[Tobacco] I desire that you will send me one [hhd] of your ale in Bottles, 40 eight of shoemakers thread & the remaining part of the Produce of the present consignment in such Ruggs as may be fit for my Family's use without doors; a two or three, which I desire for a sample of such as may be fit for Negroes. I am.
Sir,
Your most Humble Servt.
