Foster Cunliffe Esq;
Sir Rappa. July 14th 1737

Hereinclosed I remitt [remit] you the following Bills of Exchange on accot. [account] of the antilopes Negro Consignment amounting to one hundred pounds, five shilling and two pence, which I desire you to place to the Credit of the account of that consignment;
Elias Edmonds on F Cunliffe... L(pound)6..5-2
Landon Carter on... ditto... 41_0_0
Robert Gibson on... ditto... 11_0_0
John Anthony on Freeman... 15_0_0
Partridge of Bristol
Barllet Anderson on Lyonel... 16_0_0
Lyde & Compa. Bristol 89-5-2
Abr. Venable on F. Partredge... 11_0_0
100_5_2

I also desire you to charge to accot. of the Estate of Cousins Robert Carter an infant under my care, twelve pounds sterling, being for a Negro sold one of his overseers. His Tobacco will undoubtedly be sold long before this Letter gets to Hand. I have received Cash of several persons for Negroes, but believing it will not suit you so well to remitt small quantities of cash in [species?] and not being able to turn it into Bills. I apply it to own use and in lieu thereof I desire you to place to the Debit of my particular accot. seventy pounds, seventeen shillings, and eight pence sterling & to credit my Negro Consignment accot. according. These two last sums makes the present Remittance one hundred eighty three pounds two shillings and ten pence. I did expect it would have been larger; for I have been every day looking for a messenger my Brother Charles promised to send down with what Debt could be got in the parts where he lives which are (nor a few?). I still hope for this messenger time enough, if not for Loxam, at least for [Micous?] ship, or some other, I expect also to have two or three.
