Corotoman, Virginia August 25th 1767

Gentlemen

If the John & Presly arrives safe you will receive 50 hhds of my Tobacco, their neet weight upwards of Sixty thousand pounds.

I have inform'd you by several opportunities of my purchase of Colo Littlepages Land but lest only my my letters should have miscarried. I must again mention that I may probably have occasion to apply to your House for the Sum of four thousand pounds to make good that purchase on the 30th day of next april, which is time of payment. Therefore request your answere as soon as possible

The present bad prospect for a crop of Tob,this year is the general topick of conversation and I dare Say, will take up a part of every letter you receive by this conveyance

I Shall only add that they who are fortunate Enouough to have Tobacco to dispose of, may Expect a greate price for it.

As Captain Anderson is the first Ship Expected from London I hope you will be able to inclose me, agreeable Sales for my last years Consignment,together with an account Curr't, by him--I sent you one ton of Tobo. from York River by Exten who is with you long ago.

Inclosed is an invoice for Goods Which, you will have bought upon the best terms, and sent by Captain Dobbie's next voyage.

Gentlemen,

On the 2'd of this Instant I exchanged my Bills, upon Messrs [Ias.?] Buchanan & Co, for the Sum of £ 3248 Sterling (which at 25 prCt amounts to £ 4060 Curr't Money) payable to these several Gentlemen, Viz. colo Richd Corbin £ 160, Mr John Wayles £ 914.7.7 d, Messrs Gibson & Granberry £ 500, Mr Thomas Garrison £ 500--Messrs John & Thomas Gilchrist £ 773..12.3d Carter Braxton £ 400 which last bill has fallen into Colo Corbin's Lands who has promised me, that it shall not be presented until my Tobo. arrives in the River Thames; and in order to accommodate the whole so as to be most agreeable to you I would gladly have done all this business with the Gentlemen you recommended, but for a prior engagement with others however, as Mr Gibson assures me, his Bill together with Thomas Garrisons will center in your house, I expect you will not be up to any inconvenienes.

As you desired, I have given my whole crop of Tobo to the first Ship that offer'd, ninety hhds are now on board the ship Justitia, Capt
