after date, when in truth and in fact the legal interest on the
sum then really due would have been only the sum of $450.72
instead of the sum of $956.99, the sum for which sd note
was given being $506.27 more than legal interest.
XII. Orator further sheweth that immediately after the
sd note last named fell due in violation of his solemn assuran-
ces & promises so made to orator as aft and in fraud of your
orator's rights in the premises, commenced three several actions
in the circuit court of this county, one on each fo the sd notes
last named, and one an action of detinue for the said slaves and
some two or three children born since the said bills of sale were
made, being as stated in the indorsement on sd writ twenty-
seven in all - which sd several actions are now pending &
for tiral in sd Circuit Court.
XIII. Orator further sheweth that to his best remembrance
the entire amount now really due to the sd Turnipseed upon all
the notes purchased and transferred, to the sd Turnipseed as afd.
that is to say the sd. three notes for thirteen hundred dollars
each, the sd note for sixty five dollars, the sd note for
five hundred dollars, the sd note for two hundred and twenty
seven dollars 50/100, the sd note for twenty dollars, and
the sd note for ninety 29/100 dollars, and the sd. two seems
paid by sd Turnipseed for Orator as afd to wit the sum
of one hundred and forty seven 25/100 dollars and the sd
sum of one hundred and forty five dollars 69/100 after de-
ducting the two payments herein before named, one for nine
hundred and fifty seven 34/100 dollars made upon one of the
sd notes for thirteen hundred dollars, and the payment of
seven hundred and twenty six dollars made upon
the note of eight hundred and eighty eight dollars
99/100 pretended to be taken as afd. for the hire [?] of said
slaves, but in fact to secure usurious interest xe[?] as
