Jeremiah Hunt GravesJeremiah (1844-1908) was the first child of JWG and Nancy Hunt Graves. He married Amanda "Mott" or "Mottie" Myrlis Cleoptra Cook (1849-1938). They had 3 children. "Jere," as JWG usually refers to him was much closer to JWG than Jacob, JWG's son with his first wife, Catharine Boxley, who died in 1840, just 2 years after Jacob was born. Jere and Mott, and their children, visited JWG frequently.
Amanda was the granddaughter of Thomas Cook who owned land originally owned by Henry Chiles and patented January 12, 1746. Thomas Cook left this land to Amanda. On that land the Chiles River View Plantation Cemetery is where several Chiles family members and Cook family members are buried, as well as:
Jeremiah and Amanda Graves
Thomas Cook Graves (1871-1912), son of Jeremiah and Amanda
Minni Johnson Graves, wife of Thomas (1872-1899)
Ella G. Graves (1906-1912), daughter of Thomas and second wife Pattie Pollard Graves
Jere W. Graves (1873-1874), son of Jeremiah and Amanda | Jeremiah Hunt Graves |
